Kansspelautoriteit, the Dutch gaming regulator, has forced a fine of €300,000 on the Malta-based Corona Limited, administrator of the sites krooncasino.com and oranjecasino.com.
The specialist said in a statement that the fine has been forced for the provision of online amusements of chance to Dutch consumers through the Kroon and Oranje casino sites.
The events occurred between May 31 and August 8, 2017, with the controller citing a violation of article 1, first section of the Netherlands’ Betting and Gaming Act.
“This is disallowed in the Netherlands without an allow,” the statement read. “Under the current legislation it isn’t conceivable to obtain a license for offering an online session of chance [in the Netherlands].
“Suppliers of online diversions of chance are obliged to regard Dutch law. For instance, they can ensure that their sites with Dutch IP locations can not be seen [by utilization of geoblocking software].”
